Automatic Litter Box for Large Cats

A large, senior, or hood-shy cat fails a robot for different reasons than a multi-cat household. Check entry height and cabin room before you buy.

How this check works

  • Over 15 lb: the failure is cabin room, not the doorway. The cat has to turn around. Neakasa says the M9 open-view cabin fits Maine Coons and Ragdolls. It is a pre-order, expected to ship in the US on October 9, 2026. We have not lived with one.
  • Senior or kitten: look for a published entry around 10–11 inches. The M9 lists 10.2 inches. Kittens under 4 months are supposed to use the included fence on that model.
  • Refused a hood: buy open-top. An enclosed globe repeats the same refusal.
  • Three or more cats: size does not fix drawer pressure. Use the emptying calculator.

This is a buying filter, not a measurement of your cat. Published entry heights change — confirm the number on the product page before you order.
